Saint Jean de Monts, France.

After a very uneventful drive to and flight from The East Midlands Airport, I finally arrived in La Rochelle -a short drive from Saint Jean de Monts, my family were there waiting for my arrival! After a couple of weeks of not seeing them, it was great to be reunited.
On the drive to the campsite we stopped for pizza and then had a lovely stroll along the beach whilst the sun was setting. Then it was back to the tent for a glass of wine and then bed.

Saturday morning, we woke up ate croissants & Pain au Chocolats, then headed to the town centre to the weekly market. Whilst the market wasn’t exactly cheap (perhaps due to the euro currently being quite weak) there was plenty to look at and we managed to walk away with quite a few things. Myself with a beautiful white and grey shawl made with Egyptian cotton and a little gift for Jedd. My brother with a pair of trainers and my parents with lots of fruit, veg and fresh fish (plaice and sardines).
We spent the afternoon on the beach as the weather was beautiful but I soon got cold because of the cold wind from across the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards we headed back to camp for a BBQ, a game of air hockey with my brother (I won 7-1 HA), a game of cards and a few drinks.

Sunday was spent going to the supermarché where I bought wine for friends at home, going to the swimming pool and spending the afternoon/evening on the beach before returning back to camp for dinner.

On Monday we went across the castaway (which is supposedly one of the most dangerous roads in Europe?-although I don’t think it was particularly dangerous) to Noirmoutier where we went to a little creperie called L’avion. Afterwards we drove through L’Harbaudiere where we had a drink in the harbour before driving back through -notre dame- where we bought mackerel, beef kebabs and a pork sausage each for the BBQ when we got back to camp.

Tuesday was our last full day so we spent most of it at the beach before going out for dinner in the town centre  Saint Jean de Monts.

Whilst I have enjoyed being in France and spending time with my family, I am looking forward to getting home and seeing Jedd again!

Here are a few more photos from my week away:
